Lake Lanier Fills Up

On Wednesday October 14, 2009, Atlanta’s Lake Lanier reaches full pool status for the first time in four years. A week of steady rain in late September floods metro Atlanta and the Chattahoochee River Basin but helps fill Lanier. More rain in October finishes the job although the reservoir is still part a tri-state battleground along with Alabama and Florida for future water rights. Here’s a look at the ‘Three Sisters’ islands documenting the lake’s changes through the window of my small airplane.

Aerial photos are posted on my PhotoShelter site and the video is viewable on YouTube and CNN.

October tops off lake at full pool level of 1071 feet for first time in years
